STA2.14: Who should teach our children about sexual education?
Background
Sexual education refers to the passing on of information about sex and sexual relationships from adults to the young generation. In Uganda, the high rate of early pregnancies and school dropouts of the girl child indicate that they do not receive enough sex education.
Traditionally, sex education is passed on right before the woman is married off to man, by the parents, uncles, and aunties. However, today the young generation is more sexually active and need sex education as soon as they hit puberty.
