Courts are important institutions for resolving disputes and ensuring that justice is done in our society. There are however many Ugandans who would not bring their cases to the courts because they don’t have faith in the judiciary, the backlog of cases makes it a very long process or they rather prefer to settle the dispute themselves. The Ugandan Human Rights Commission has reported an “unprecedented rise” in mob justice cases in recent years.
