During the months, of April and May, CEHURD worked with two radio stations (CBS FM and Radio Simba) to raise awareness about the health needs of adolescent girls and young women and some of the challenges that stop them from fully realizing and enjoying their right to health.

 The poll questions primarily focused on sexuality education – looking at what would be the most appropriate source of information on sexuality for young people.

 Uganda is one of the countries with the youngest population in the whole world. 77% of all Ugandans are under the age of 30. This means that majority of Uganda’s population are youth.

 Research also shows that 1 out of 4 girls aged 15 – 19 have had a child or are pregnant. And most of these pregnancies are unwanted.

 Although the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development banned sex education in Uganda, according to CEHURD, sexuality education is key because it helps the youth to learn how to prevent HIV and unwanted pregnancies. It also helps teenagers and adolescents to understand biological aspects of growing up and body changes.
