BACKGROUND
According to a story published in the New Vision on June 5th 2014, two
policemen from Lira district, Assistant Inspector of police Moses Odongo, and
Detective Constable Julius Opira, have been sentenced to three years in jail or
a fine of 500,000 shillings for soliciting a bribe of 2.1 million shillings to
drop a case of forgery.
Justice Margaret Tibulya of the Anti-Corruption Court condemned the convicted
officers for betraying public trust as keepers of law and order.
