Were you counted during the 2014 Uganda population census?
BACKGROUND
The
National Housing and Population census, organized by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), started on August 28th and
ended on September 12th.
The main purpose of a census is to gain information on population
development,
population structure, households' and living conditions and others.
People were counted in two ways. Census officials called enumerators approached them directly, or visited homes where everyone who lives in the home was counted even if they were not physically there. This is called being counted in absentia.
The
Executive Director of UBOS, Ben Mungyereza, told the Observer newspaper on Saturday the 6th that the exercise had gone
well and everyone was prepared
for it.
