Is there a serious problem of stray dogs where you live?

BACKGROUND

In an article published in the New Vision on January 16th 2015, it was revealed that residents of Masindi are living in fear following increased cases of dog bites in the district.

Mr. Kahiira, the area councillor, said that so far 16 people have bitten by dogs and authorities have complained of a suspected rabies outbreak. The most affected villages are Bikonzi and Kikingura.

Treatment is accessed at Masindi Kitara Medical Centre and Ngomokwe Nursing Home, both private facilities. A nurse at Ngomokwe, who preferred anonymity, said a rabies dose costs between Shs160,000 and Shs180,000.
The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has a program that involves the elimination of stray dogs by feeding them meat with poison. As part of their mandate to eliminate rabies in the country, this operation can take place wherever residents report stray dogs.
