In your opinion, which of these offices has most effectively carried out its duties in your region?
BACKGROUND
During
the coming 2016 general elections, local citizens will get an opportunity to
audit the performance of their current leaders during their previous term of
office. These leaders were voted during the 2011 elections based on their
manifestos promising better provision of service delivery.
Political
leaders who have fulfilled their responsibilities like legislating better laws
and policies to improve service delivery in priority sectors like health,
roads, agriculture, education, etc will be given another five years mandate to
remain in their offices. Political leaders who performed below the expected standards
may not be voted in again.
We
would like to hear from you which of the following offices you think has been
most effective in carrying out its roles in your region.
We
have villages which are run by a Local Council 1 chairman. Sub-counties and
counties are run by a Local Council 3 chairman. And districts are run by a
Local Council 5 chairman.
The
roles of Members of Parliament are derived from the functions of parliament,
which is to make laws for peace, order, development and good governance of
Uganda, and finally, the president of Uganda heads the Government of Uganda.
