Do you think schools in Uganda should promote reading for pleasure, and not just for academics?

Background

On 25th January 2015, the literary world in Uganda came to a standstill with the death of 71 year old author  Godfrey Mwene Kalimugogo. At the time of his death, he had published 14 books and was the only Ugandan to have so many books published.

Kalimugogo came from Kabale district, and his intimacy with literature developed at Nyakasura School in Fort Portal, where he became the student librarian. It was here that he spent his time reading novels by famous authors like Shakespeare and Charles Dickens. He wrote a novel in 2009 called A Murky River, which is now on the Uganda A-Level Literature syllabus.

However, few people knew Kalimugogo because in Uganda, the practice of reading is usually restricted to academic subjects like biology or mathematics.
