Do you think the the Government's new job centers will be effective in reducing unemployment?

BACKGROUND

In a bid to tackle the high level of unemployment in the country, the Government in conjunction with the United Nations, will establish job centers to connect youth to potential employers within and outside of Uganda. It is aimed at addressing the growing unemployment rate in Uganda.

Centers will match job seekers, especially youth graduates, with potential employers for both national and international job offers, and train them in computer skills, as well as guide and counsel them.

The pilot districts for the programme are Gulu, Hoima, Kampala, Mbarara and Mukono. The government believes this will end the tale of graduates who loiter on the streets-knocking on offices for jobs. After one year, the programme will be rolled out worldwide.
