Should public school teachers continue to strike until they receive higher pay?

Background
Public school teachers throughout Uganda continue to strike, demanding higher pay. In 2011, the government promised to increase teacher’s salaries by 10%. Until now, it has failed to do so.

Teachers are among the lowest paid public servants in Uganda, and the National Teachers’ Union has vowed to fight on until the government fulfills its promise.

As the strike continues, parents are worrying about the education of their children. While public schools are closed, classes at private schools continue as usual. The Daily Monitor reports that some parents are now taking their children out of public schools and enrolling them in private institutions.

We would like to know if you support the public school teachers, even if it affects the education of children.
