Do you have a clear understanding why child marriage happens in your community?

BACKGROUND:
In many regions of Uganda, parents arrange their daughter’s marriage without her knowledge. One day, she may be at home playing with her siblings, and the next day she could be married off and sent to live in another village with her new husband and his family, who are often complete strangers to her. She is pulled out of school and separated from her peers. This harmful traditional practice only perpetuates the cycle of poverty. Not only are child brides often deprived of an education and meaningful work, they suffer health risks associated with early sexual activity and childbearing, leading to high rates of maternal and child mortality as well as sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS.
