Do you think there’s enough respect for the democratic process required for a multiparty system in Uganda?

His Excellency President Museveni  spoke to a mammoth gathering  in western Uganda on 12th.08.2015 while commissioning some roads. The media quoted President Museveni  as advising Ugandans to vote wisely in the coming 2016 general elections. He added that, “it’s your vote or our vote which will determine peace or chaos for the entire Uganda”. The statement is contradicting when at the same function he mentioned that: ‘’ he is ready and willing to hand over power to turmoil’s’

With the ushering in of the multiparty system in Uganda in 2005 one would say that Uganda is democratic. But this is not the case today because members of the opposition parties have on many occasions said the ruling NRM has not opened space for other parties to participate freely in the political arena.
