Background
The Government passed the Constitutional Amendment Bill on August 11, 2015. One of the key provisions of the Bill was to change the name of the Electoral Commission to the Independent Electoral Commission in order to explicitly recognize the independence of the EC and to enable Parliament to prescribe by law, the composition of the Commission.
