Background
Uganda's health system is composed of health services delivered in the public sector, by private providers, and by traditional and complementary health practitioners.
There is one doctor for every 7,272 Ugandans, and one nurse/midwifery for every 36,810. The shortages are worse in rural areas as 70 percent of all doctors are practicing in urban areas.
