Background:
Ministry of Health acknowledges that Maternal and Child health care services is a cost effective
means to lower maternal mortality rates given that it reduces the risk of exposure to pregnancy as
well as reduce the incidence of unsafe abortions.
According to the Ugandan service standard, Reproductive health services are accessible at
referral hospitals, district hospitals, health center IVs, health center IIIs and partly in Health
Center IIs only. However, in most communities, mothers are still delivering with TBAs. Despite
the ban on TBAs in offering services, some are still attending to pregnant mothers illegally.Question:
