SIMBA CM2 1.5 | What is the major barrier for women to own land in your area?

Background:

In Uganda, the share of men who own land is 21% higher than that of women yet over 70% of women are engaged in agriculture. Many women do not have legal ownership rights to the land on which they live/ work.  Land creates direct economic benefits through renting, sale and security for loans. For women, land ownership marks the end to economic uncertainty and vulnerability and has a potential impact on the entire community.

Question:
What is the major barrier for women to own land in your area?

A - Cultural perceptions stop women from owning land
B - Limited awareness of women’s land rights
- Inadequate enforcement of laws and policies on women’s rights
D - Limited financial means for women to buy/ register land
