Background
Traditional justice mechanisms are customary
laws and cultural institutions that resolve conflicts and disputes
within and between communities. Traditional justice plays a huge role in
dispute resolution because it is widely accessible, it works fast and
it is cost-effective when compared to formal courts of law.
However,
traditional justice institutions also face challenges in the
administration of justice which need to be resolved to make it serve
communities better.
