Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has been giving 20% revenue sharing to
parishes neighboring the Queen Elizabeth National park every year. The
money is a percentage from the get collections from tourists visiting
the national park every year.
Therefore, the incense of this money is to strengthen the co-existence of the farmers with the national park their neighbor.
The
case in point is Isango sub-county in Kasese district where local
leaders claim they have not yet received the revenue sharing for this
year totaling to 10M shillings from the Kasese district local
government.
The
money is handed to the district in a general cheque and then disbursed
to the benefiting sub-counties through the sub-county chiefs. In this
case, the sub-county Chief of Isanga Mr. Robert Baluku is accused of
failing to account for ten million shillings.
