The increase in domestic violence has been linked to several social-economic factors.

Government loses Shs 36b annually in response to domestic violence according to a research by Centre for Domestic Violence Prevention(CEDOVIP) and Makerere University Economic Policy Research Centre study (New Vision 26th Nov. 2012).
