BACKGROUND:
The ministry of Defense will be in charge of capturing data and processing IDs. Much of the work will be done by the UPDF.

On March 19, 2010, the Government contracted Muhlbauer Technology, a German firm, at 64.2m Euros (approx. sh230.9B) to supply technology and other related services for the National Security Information System, which was being handled under the internal affairs ministry.

According to DP spokesperson Kenneth Kakande, Only five people: the President, First Lady, the Prime Minister and two others got IDs: out of over 34 million Ugandans.
