The marriage bill is a law that seeks to reform and consolidate the law relating to marriage, separation and divorce. A marriage gift means a gift; in cash or in kind given by either party to a marriage in respect of that marriage.

The Bill does not prohibit marriage gifts, expect, The payment of bride price will no longer be an essential requirement and will remain an option for those who wish to continue with this practice.
