According to the Local Government Act 2010 Chapter 24, political leaders (LC1 to LC5) have the responsibility of monitoring government programs.

Among these government programs are Education, Health, Sanitation and Public Service Delivery in general. For example these leaders have the responsibility to monitor Universal Primary and Secondary Education programs to make sure that students are going to school and that the teachers are doing their job.
