BACKGROUND:
Accountability means responsibility to someone or for some activity. Especially leaders being accountable to the people

For example, leaders are supposed to give their constituents information on budgets - indicating a clear budget of a subcountry showing how much money is going to spent on what.
How many roads are going to be built, how much money is being spent on health, government expenditure on education among others.

It’s very important for leaders to give accountability to their constituencies as mandated by the Local Government Act.

Even though some leaders give this kind of information to their constituents, we have also learned that in some areas leaders are not accountable to the communities.
