Do you think Kiswahili should be introduced as a compulsory subject in Schools?

BACKGROUND:
Members of Parliament on the Education Committee have questioned government’s directive for the introduction of Kiswahili language as a compulsory subject to be taught at primary level in schools. This directive has been highlighted in the Ministry of Education and Sports Ministerial Policy Statement for Financial Year 2013-2014.

Officials from the Ministry of Education have defended this move saying it is meant to help Ugandans integrate fully with the other East African Community partner states especially Kenya and Tanzania where Kiswahili is taught as a compulsory subject in both the primary and secondary schools and is used as one of their national languages.
