BACKGROUND:

In our poll question last week talked about “the best way to promote patriotism”. We had very interesting SMS responses.
51% of the people said that if the government introduces Patriotism is a personal choice.
33% of the people who responded to our poll question said that “Patriotism Classes should be introduced in schools” for people to learn how to love and defend their country..
12% of the people said that the government should introduce a patriotism law to make people love and defend their country.

A few weeks ago Minister for presidency Frank Tumwebaze said that the patriotism bill instructs citizens to love and defend their country.

According to Minister, patriotism seems to be declining among the citizens. He cites run-away corruption and endless strikes in schools and protests by people as possible reasons.    Minister Tumwebaze proposes that under the new law, the ministry of education will have to include patriotism on the schools syllabus from primary level.
