The Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) believes that citizens of Uganda should be given the opportunity to participate in debating priorities for Uganda’s national budget. CSBAG has partnered with Trac FM to find out which sector should be given priority in the 2018/19 National Budget.

Over a period of four days, Trac FM run a poll question on 9 radio stations (spread out across Uganda), namely, Radio Simba, Radio WA, Hunter FM, Hits FM, Delta FM, Nenah FM, Baba FM, Radio Pacis and Mega FM. Radio listeners were given instructions on how to participate through Trac FM’s toll-free SMS shortcode and over 5000 people responded.

Technical note: Within this campaign, we are solely considering 5 key sectors of the budget: Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, Roads & Energy and Security. Together, these 5 key-sectors constitute 61.3% of the total national budget 2018/19.
